The Zokol family sadly announces the completion of the successful life of Dr. Joseph F. Zokol. Born in Slovenia, he grew up in Vancouver, BC. Following his participation overseas in World War II, he graduated from the University of Oregon Dental School in 1955. Joe practiced dentistry for 10 years in Kitimat, BC returning to Vancouver in 1964, where he became a Certified Specialist in Prosthodontics. His love, passion and dedication to profession, family and golf is exemplified by the people he touched and inspired. He was a teacher in his profession and a guiding light for his family who strive to perpetuate the legacy of his life experiences.

Dr. Joe Zokol passed away peacefully in the morning of July 12, 2005. He is survived by his wife, Elsie; sons Dr. Ron (Marie) and Richard (Joanie); daughters Janet (Gordon) and Dr. Deborah (Robert); grandchildren Ryan, Richard, Robert, Garrett, Conor; and Hayley.

A celebration of Dr. Joe Zokol’s life will be held at Marine Drive Golf Club, 7425 Yew Street in Vancouver, on Saturday, July 16, 2005 from 2:00 – 5:00 pm. Formalities will commence at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the VGH Palliative Care Unit would be appreciated.
