Dr. Norman Theodore Johnson

We regretfully announce the passing of Norm Johnson. He died peacefully in his sleep at Creekside Landing Care Residence on Tuesday, December 8th, 2009 at the age of 90 years.

Norm is lovingly remembered by his wife Pat; his son, Don (Margaret) of Langley, B.C.; his daughters, Julie (Brian) of Gibsons, B.C. and Kerrie (Brian) of Vernon, B.C.; his grandchildren, Jeffrey and Rebecca, Christa, Brett, Scott and Alysha and Shailyn; two great-grandchildren, Vaeda and Dakota; his step-children, Larry (Marie), Brian, Dale and Lynn and their children. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia Eileen in 1989.

Norm was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota and moved to Calgary, Alberta at the age of one year. He spent 1940-1943 with the Army during World War II, stationed both in Winnipeg and overseas. He attended UBC Victoria for pre medical and then to the University of Waterloo Ontario College of Optometry and graduated in 1948. He practiced Optometry in Victoria, Vancouver, Kamloops, Merritt, Williams Lake and Chase, retiring in 1996.

Cremation preceded the Funeral Service which will be held at All Saints Anglican Church on Tuesday, December 15th, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Canon Chris Harwood-Jones officiating. As an expression of sympathy, those who wish to do so may send donations in memory of Norm to the charity of their choice.
