In loving memory ~
It is with sadness in our hearts that we tell you Ed Newington has passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 3 2023.
Ed was predeceased by his parents Elmer and Gertrude Newington, his brother Dennis and the love of his life; his wife Jeanne. Ed leaves behind his twin sister Barbara, sister Terry (Mike), plus his beloved sons Jay and Joey, as well as 3 stepchildren Mike, Penny and Paul (Val). He also leaves behind his son-in-law Chris as well as many friends that he acquired over the years. Ed graduated from high school in Stuttgart, Germany as his father was stationed there while serving in the Army.
Ed took after his father and he served in the U.S. Air Force during the early part of the Vietnam conflict prior to working for the City of Redwood in CA. Once he and Jeanne moved to Canada, they chose Vavenby as home and he worked in Forestry for a while, they then moved to Burnaby where Ed worked for the city in the Sewer department, eventually becoming a foreman there. After they left there, they made their home in Vernon, B.C. where for many years Ed worked at 7-11.
At Ed's request, there will only be a graveside service, and he asked instead of flowers anyone wishing to can make a donation to the Vernon Hospice House or Vernon Jubilee Hospital or Vernon SPCA in memory of him.
