Edna Cockburn passed away at Hospice House on Thursday, February 5, 2009, with her loving family at her side. Edna is survived by her son Brian and his wife Lorraine, three grandchildren, Jeffrey, Sarah and Gregory and by her sister Helen Fosbery of Kelowna. She was predeceased by her husband Robert in 1994 and by her parents Arthur and Ethel Little, and her brother Clarence.
Edna was born in Vernon on April 10, 1915, where she has resided most of her life. She attended early schooling in the Cameron Building and then at the Park School where the current Science Centre is located. Her first jobs were with the A. T. Howe Orchards and the Vernon Irrigation District.
In 1945 she married Robert Cockburn and moved to Toronto. In 1965 she and her family returned to Vernon where she spent the remainder of her life.
In July of 2002, Edna moved from her home on the East Hill to Coldstream Meadows where she made many good friends.
A Memorial Service will be held on February 19, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Vernon Funeral Home. Canon Peter Davison will preside.
