It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our father Eduard Wunderli on October 15th, 2010 at the age of 81 years.
Ed was born Sept 17th, 1929 in Basel, Switzerland and immigrated to Canada in 1951. He has lived in Vernon since 1953.
Ed is survived by his brother Theo Wunderli (Ursula), his sister Dorli Huber (Marc), his three daughters, Tina Gumuchian (Vahan), Heidi Thompson (Ted) and Ev Wright (Harold Heyming). Ed was blessed with six grandchildren, Katie, Edward, Mandy, Carmen, Stephanie, and Alexander. “We will miss you Grandpa”!
Our family would like to thank the wonderful staff and management at all his retirement homes, Gentle Waters, Coldstream Meadows and Creekside Landing for taking care of Ed and making his final years very comfortable. Above all, the whole family wants to thank all his friends who supported him through thick and thin. We hope to see you at the celebration to extend our heartfelt gratitude.
Ed began his successful sales career in Montreal where he started out selling watches. He partnered up with long time friend Lyall Hanson and bought the local Chrysler dealership, Sigalet Bros, eventually becoming sole owner.
Ed will be missed by many in the community. He was actively involved with many service clubs and fundraisers, including Kinsmen, Gyro, Jaycees, Vernon Winter Carnival and many of the downtown Business Associations. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Coldstream Women’s Institute Hall located at 9909 Kal Lake Rd. On Fri Oct 29th from 2 PM till 4 PM.
