Suddenly, on Saturday, June 11, 2011, in his 81st, year, Edward Anthony Rainko passed away. He is survived by his loving wife, Helen, of 58 years; son, Chris; daughter, Heather (Ian) Adair; granddaughter, Alanna; grandson, Adam; all of Calgary, AB; numerous nieces, nephews and many dear friends.
Edward was a paratrooper, stationed at Shilo, Manitoba from 1949 to 1952. He was a locomotive engineer with the Canadian National Railway for 38 years. Edward was a member of F.O.E. Airie #20 in New Westminster, BC and also a member of the Vernon Schubert Seniors’ Center. Edward loved his grandchildren, took them to many places and enjoyed participating in their activities, such as rollerblading and ice skating. He loved dancing, picnics and ice cream, reading history books, travelling, and cruising.
The Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 18th, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Pleasant Valley Funeral Home with The Rev. Rita Harrison officiating.
Flowers gratefully declined. Those friends wishing to make memorial contributions in memory of Edward may do so to a charity of choice.
