December 2, 1928 – June 29, 2022
Egon passed away peacefully into the presence of his Lord Jesus Christ on June 29th, 2022 in Vernon, B.C. at the age of 93 years.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 45 years, Joan, his son Charles, his grandchildren Candice, Krystal and Joel, eight great-grandchildren along with numerous extended family members and friends.
Egon was born on December 2nd, 1928 in Zdunska-Wola, Poland. At the age of 15 he was conscripted as a child soldier and at the age of 16 spent several months in a prisoner of war camp in Czechoslovakia before being able to rejoin his parents at the end of the Second World War.
Egon came to Canada in 1952 with an older brother where he worked for the Canadian Government at the TB Hospital and later for the Coast Guard in Prince Rupert until he retired.
Egon was friendly, cheerful and was gifted with a great sense of humour, sharing his spontaneous one-liners with everyone. He also loved to sing and joined a number of church choirs over the years.
Egon and Joan moved to Vernon in 1996 where they volunteered at the Upper Room Mission and have been active members of Faith Baptist Church.
Cremation preceded a Celebration of Egon’s Life which will be held at Bethel Funeral Chapel on Friday, August 5th, 2022 at 1:30 pm with Pastor Len Strelau officiating.
A Reception will follow at Faith Baptist Church.
