MOORE, Eileen “Collette”
Eileen “Collette” Moore, was born October 3, 1925 in Waterford Ireland, beloved youngest daughter to John and Eileen Murray. She passed gently into the Lord’s waiting arms at VJH on January 16, 2012.
“Collette” or “Coo”, as she was affectionately known by those who loved her, came to Toronto at her mother’s suggestion as a Red Cross nurse in 1954 and met her future husband, William, in Burk’s Falls, Ontario. Married in 1955 at the cathedral in North Bay, they settled in to raising a family of four: John (1958), Rosemary (1959) (husband Ron Harris), Timothy (1961) (wife Carmen nee: Merkosky), and Benjamin (1963) (wife Lisa nee: Mauriks). All were born in the tiny Red Cross hospital at Burk’s Falls. Dissatisfied with rural Ontario, the family moved out west to Chilliwack, eventually settling in Maple Ridge, BC.
Eileen “Collette” was a diminutive, raven-haired beauty who loved Irish folklore and tales of her relatives and ancestors. She was a loving mother to her four children and a devoted wife to her towering husband, Bill.
Colette was pre-deceased by her husband, Bill, whom she had missed dearly for ten long years. She is survived by her four children along with eight grandchildren: Claire, Charlotte, Kelsey, Nicholas, Jordan, Caitlin, Natalie, and Christopher. She was recently blessed to be a great grandmother with the arrival, before Christmas, of the precious Olivia Rose with doting parents Claire Harris and Mathew Dureau of Maple Ridge.
A Catholic Prayer Service will be held Friday evening, January 20th, 2012 at 6:30 p.m. at Our Lady of the Valley parish in Coldstream. Funeral Mass will be at OLOV, 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 21, 2012. Everyone is welcome to attend.
The family would like to thank the staff at Heron Grove, and at VJH for her care. We have been met with more kindness than we would have thought possible.
