ELEANOR FRANCES MacMORRAN (Fife) passed away peacefully in Hospice House in Vernon, B.C.. Wednesday, March 24, 2004. Eleanor was born September 7, 1918 in Lindsay, Saskatchewan. As a young lady, she started to correspond with a British Army private, went overseas at wartime to meet Horatio MacMorran, became engaged and married in 1944. Her husband, Ray worked up the ranks to officer which meant moving around to different countries evey 2-3 years. From Scotland, England, Germany, Singapore, and Tasmania. Ellie lived and raised her six daughters alongside her husband, during his army career. In 1966, Ray retired from the army and they ran a grocery store in Bristol, England for about three years. After that, they moved to Tasmania, Australia to be closer to five of their six daughters. These were their happiest years. Ellie made her way back to Canada in 2000 to live with her dear friend, Frank. Ellie loved to write poetry, read and play games. Her greatest passion was bridge. She never missed an opportunity to play or teach or discuss the game of bridge. Ellie was predeceased by her husband, Ray, her daughter, Catherine, her parents, one sister, and three brothers. She is lovingly remembered by her best friend and companion, Frank McCann, daughters: Glenys, Heather, Alaine, Fiona and Hazel, and their families, her extended Canadian family, and many friends, especially her bridge group. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 30, 2004 at 1:00 pm at All Saints Anglican Church in Vernon, with Canon Peter Davidson officiating.
