IN LOVING MEMORY - Our world lost a bright light and heaven gained a new choir member as Eleanor, with her family around her, left her earthly body, to be reunited with her loved ones in heaven on Monday, March 26th. Eleanor was ready to 'go home.'

We will miss her so much but are comforted by her strong faith and the assurance of a beautiful life in heaven, where we will all meet again.

Born on the Thursday before Easter, in the old Deering farmhouse in Shevlin, Manitoba, Eleanor was the youngest of 5 siblings. Clever little Ella, bypassed Grade One, skipped a grade along the way and graduated from high school at age 16. She then taught school for one year before entering nurses training. She graduated from Dauphin General Hospital as an RN in 1953, where she was chosen to be the class valedictorian. She courageously moved west after graduation and began her nursing career in Ladysmith, BC.

It was there that she met her handsome Mountie, Art, who would become the love of her life and husband of 56 years. Eleanor and Art were married on October 7th, 1954 and eventually moved to Richmond, where they spent many happy years, working in their chosen careers, raising their two children, John and Karen, and developing many long-lasting friendships, mainly through their active involvement at Trinity Lutheran Church.

In 1994, Eleanor and Art, along with their children and grandchildren, moved to Vernon where they enjoyed their retirement, first at their lake house, on the Westside, then in town. Once again, church became their main avenue for social connections and they made many good friends at St. John's Lutheran. Eleanor's beautiful singing voice and love for music will always be remembered. Whether she was directing the church choir, or cranking out "Roll out the Barrel" on the piano at family gatherings, she put her heart and soul into everything she did. Her love of family, sense of humour, and joyful spirit will always be remembered.

She was predeceased by her parents, Edward and Hertha Andres, her brothers Herbert, Arnold and Harold, her sister, Trudy, as well as two infant sons, John and Bruce.

Left to lovingly remember her are her children John Wafler and Karen (Steven) Brown, her grandchildren Michael and Leah Wafler, Travis, Samaya and Kye Fentiman, Kendra (Chris) Krusel and her precious great-granddaughters, Brooklyn and Peyton Krusel. Eleanor will also live on in the hearts of many nieces, nephews, cousins, in- laws and friends.

A Service of Remembrance will be held on Friday, April 6th at 2:00 pm at St. John's Lutheran Church.

If desired, donations made to the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation or Vernon Hospice House would be gratefully appreciated.
