Eleanore Viola Hedden
May 30, 1919 – April 29, 2010
We regret to announce the passing of Eleanore Viola Hedden on April 29, 2010 at the Polson Extended Care unit of Vernon Jubilee hospital at the age of 90 years.
Eleanore was born on May 30, 1919 to David and Ester Hendrickson. She had thee brothers, all older than her who have all passed away; Leonard, Syd, and Ralph.
She married “her only boyfriend” Roy Hedden on September 23, 1939. Eleanore & Roy celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary last year( 2009).
They had 5 children, twins Elaine (Rudy) Mayert and Marvin(Lily) Hedden, twins Eldon (Nora) Hedden and Elvin (Rosanna) Hedden . She was predeceased by her daughter Sandra Morrison and Kenneth Hendrickson (Gail) who was raised by Eleanore and Roy from early childhood, and granddaughter Jenna Marie.
Eleanore was “joined at the hip” with Roy, sharing the raising of children, jobs and hobbies. Eleanore and Roy were instrumental in establishing the backyard band with Eleanore playing the saxophone & Roy directing and playing the trombone. They also played in the Alysham Saskatchewan band were the 5 children where born and in the Revelstoke band where they lived for a number of years.
Eleanore was a dedicated bridge player especially at Canterbury Court where they lived for the last number of years.
A celebration of life service will be held on July 31, 2010 from 2-4 pm at the Pleasant Valley Funeral home.
Eleanore will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband Roy and her children, 14 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren as well as many extended family members and friends.
