Elenor Mae Craig

On Thursday October 1, 2009 Eleanor Mae Craig passed away after a valiant battle with cancer. Eleanor was born December 13, 1940 in North Vancouver, B.C. the only child of Edwin and Eunice Oie.

Eleanor grew up in the city and had many fond memories of her life there. She especially loved visiting her grandfather’s store on Robson St. Although she grew up a city girl something always drew her to the Okanagan. Finally after a family vacation in 1980 she decided it was time to move. She happily lived the last 29 years in Vernon, a place she called her Paradise.

Eleanor spent over 20 years working as an accountant/bookkeeper for the Vernon Medical Clinic and she was an active member of the Eagles and Treasurer of The Vernon Singles Club. When Eleanor wasn’t at work she was sure to be found dancing or cruising. She had a passion for ballroom dancing and loved to travel; cruises with dancing were her bliss.

Eleanor will be reunited with her father Edwin (1952) and mother Eunice (1959). Eleanor was also predeceased by 2 grandsons Daryel Kyle Nore and Trevor Thomas Craig.

Left to mourn are her 4 children; Les, Cheryl, Charmaine and David; 7 grandchildren; Dani, Devin, Cassie, Jessie, Shenay, Wes and Colton; 3 great-grandchildren; Hailey, Dylan and Kaitlyn and her second husband Dave Craig.

A memorial service and reception will be held Friday October 9th, 2009 at 11:00 am at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Hall, 5101-25 Avenue, Vernon, B.C.

The family would like to thank all of mom’s dear friends who did so much to help while she was ill.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made out to help Ryan Bentson offset the costs of his double lung transplant-a cause very dear to Eleanor and her family. Donations can be made at TD Canada Trust branch 9886 Account # 6031308 “Ryan Bentson in trust”.
