Elisabeth Burke, a faithful follower of Jesus Christ, passed into his presence on November 8, 2003. After a courageous battle against cancer over the past six months, she chose to die at home with the care of her family. Elisabeth had many virtues and gifts that blessed those close to her. She was the heart of her family who will always remember her love, grace and tenderness.
Born in Kiel, Germany, Elisabeth immigrated to Canada with her husband and three children in 1952. They settled in Vernon where their fourth child was born and then moved to Kamloops where they raised their family and ran a small business. They built several homes reflecting Elisabeth’s talents in home decorating and gardening. They retired to Vernon in 1989. Her husband of 50 years, Johannes, predeceased Elisabeth on November 7, 1994. She is survived by her sisters Magda Liebers and Ruth Behrens and brothers Otti Wilde and Waldemar Wilde, in Germany.
Elisabeth will be sadly missed by her daughter Elke (Herb) Draht, sons Helmut (Trudy) Burke, Reinhard (Pat) Burke, Holger (Judy) Burke; grandchildren Carmel (David) McDonald, Brendan John Burke, Karin (Will) Fitzgerald, Randy Burke, Jonathan Burke, Mathew Burke, Lisa Draht, Daniel Draht; and great grandchildren, Katie Fitzgerald and Jacob McDonald.
There will be a celebration of her life at 1:00 PM, Saturday, November 15, at Faith Baptist Church, 3908 27A Street led by Reverend Elis Bidell. Funeral arrangements are in the care of Pleasant Valley Funeral Home, 542-4333
