November 19th, 1933 – April 2nd, 2015
Mom passed away peacefully on April 2nd, at Heron Grove Retirement Residence in Vernon, British Columbia. She will be sadly missed by daughter Lisa Allgaier, son and daughter-in-law Darren and Pam Smith, grandsons Brendon and Spencer Green-Smith and their mother Shelley Green, and sister in law Effie Loring and family. She is survived by one brother Edward, in Manitoba and numerous members of her extended family.
Born and raised in Manitoba (Holland), she moved with her family to Kamloops in 1972. She worked at Coca-Cola Bottling in Kamloops and Vernon for over 13 years until 1992. Prior to her residence at Heron Grove in November 2011, Mom was an avid cribbage player, known at tournaments in the Vernon Region and as a volunteer at the Schubert Center. She made an impact on all those who met her and her strength, independence, and strong will were evident even in her last days.
She is predeceased by her son Dean, former husband and friend Don Smith, parents Camille and Clementine Adam, beloved sister Claire and brother in law Marcel De Graeve, and brothers Lucien, Clement.
A small service with be held to honour her life at the Pleasant Valley Funeral Home,, 4303 Pleasant Valley Road, on Thursday, April 16th, at 10 AM.
Special thanks to the staff at Heron Grove cottage 6 for the loving care they provided to our mother, and to the residents both past and present, who became part of her extended family.
