Elizabeth Helene Albert
October 12, 1919 – September 4, 2014
Elizabeth (“Bette”) Helene Albert – longtime resident of Edmonton – passed away peacefully at the Gateby Intermediate Care Residence in Vernon, BC. She was predeceased by her husband, Bernard, and is survived by her three children Lorraine (Derek), Joan (Barry) and Bob (Faith).
Our Mom was a beautiful and elegant woman. She devoted her life to raising her family and to serving others throughout her registered and public health nursing careers, graduating with her RN (Edmonton General Hospital Class of ’44) and later in life with her BSc (University of Alberta Class of ’70). Bette also taught yoga for many years and was well known for her volunteer work with seniors in south Edmonton and as a palliative care volunteer.
She was a much loved and devoted “Gram” who will be sadly missed by her grandsons Jeff, Greg, Josh and Joel, as well as nieces and nephews who adored her.
At Gateby she was very loved by the other residents and staff who often referred to her as Miss Bette, with Mom responding “That’s Bette, with an E.” She loved to tap her toes to music and dance. Bette also loved animals, especially Capricie. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SPCA.
The family wishes to sincerely thank the staff at the Gateby Residence and Dr. Friesen for the loving care that our Mom received.
Services will be held in Edmonton at the St. Albert Catholic Cemetery, 7 St. Vital Avenue, St. Albert on Friday Oct 10th at 2:00 PM.
