Sep 20, 1919 - May 30, 2018
We regret to announce the unexpected passing of Ellen Montgomery Daisley of Vernon, BC on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at 1:43 am at the North Okanagan Hospice House surrounded by her 3 grandchildren, Susie Helland (Brent), Sarah Titus (Garett) and Jay Woodford (Jill).

After having a fall and breaking her hip, Ellen (Nell) was recovering from surgery and working hard at her physio until complications arose and she had to have a second surgery. She fought a hard battle but her body just wasn't as strong as her stubborn, Irish mind.

Nell was born September 20, 1919 in Belfast, Ireland and came to Canada with her parents and siblings on the White Star, the sister ship to the Titanic. They escaped the war and made a life in

Vancouver where she met her first husband, Chuck Woodford, and they had their only child, Jack Woodford, who pre - deceased Nell in April, 2000. She lost Chuck when Jack was in his 20's. Nell went on to remarry her second husband, Angus Bob Daisley and they moved to Vernon and made it their home. In July, 2004, she also lost Bob.

Nell lived for her grandchildren and great grandchildren, Taylor daSilva, Carson Helland, (Vernon) Jack and Cali Titus, (Airdrie) Jayden, Gavin, Aveah, and Maddox Woodford (Armsrtong) and always said they kept her young. She was not your typical 98 year old as she still lived on her own in a 55 plus complex, babysat a couple times a week, and took taxis into town to get groceries or her hair done. When anyone asked her what her secret was for staying young, she always said these three things...

1 - I loved 2 great men

2 - I say what I think and don't worry what people think of me

3 - I count my blessings.

We could all take a lesson from that advice.

Along with her grandkids and great grandkids, she will be missed by many friends and family, including Sandy O'Brien who she loved going shopping with every Monday morning, and Rob O'Brien who she loved baking her famous banana bread for.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that you consider donating to the North Okanagan Hospice Society in Ellen's name. You can also donate directly using the link below as one of her grandkids, Susie (Brent) Helland are participating in Dancing with the Vernon Stars and will be dancing her heart out in her honour. https://bit.ly/2KAZkxy
