We regret to announce the death at Vancouver General Hospital on June 16, 2003, of Elmer Jacob Deederly, at the age of 73 years. Elmer was a career hotel operator for many years in the Fort St. John area prior to moving to Vernon in 1972. He was employed by the Village Green Inn until his retirement in 1980. Elmer’s greatest joy was his grandchildren, but over the years he was also involved with the Lions Club, bicycle riding, camping and gardening, and was an enthusiastic wine maker. He was predeceased by his wife, Elsie, in 1999; and by brother, George; sister Nellie, and granddaughter, Sherri. Elmer will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his children: Arnold (Lisa) and Judy (Brett) MacKinnon; and grandchildren Sarah and Emily. He is also survived by brothers: William (Minnie) of Togo, Sask., Ed (Lorraine) and Harold (Janet) all of Port Alberni, B.C.; sister Ruth (Eddie) Burback of Togo; and numerous extended family members. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, June 20, at 4:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Vernon Funeral Home, with Mr. Brian Jackson officiating. Friends wishing to do so may make donations in memory of Elmer to either Vernon Hospice Society, 3506-27 Ave., Vernon, V1T 1S4; or to B.C.
