(May 1st, 1924 – July 23rd, 2017)

On the evening of Sunday, July 23rd, Elnora Breitkreutz, age 93, left us to be with her Holy Saviour forever.

Elnora was one of nine children born to Valentine and Emilie Goebel. Frieda, Evelyn, Roland, Clarence and Myrtle preceded her in death and Floyd, Roy and Virginia join us in mourning our loss. Elnora married John Breitkreutz in 1942 and had two sons, Marvin and Alvin. John passed away in 2011, just short of their 70th wedding anniversary. Marvin had cerebral palsy and Elnora championed him with unmatched loving home care for 63 of his 70 years before his passing in 2014.

Elnora will be lovingly remembered by her son, Alvin (Bonnie); two grandsons, Shane (Cheryl) and Brad (Judy); two step-grandchildren, Clint Strande (Jessica) and Kory Strande (Jon) as well as four great-grandchildren, Shalena, Danika, Haydin and Rex, who were the pride of her life.

Elnora worked in a bakery for a number of years but her main careers were homemaking and working on the farm where, in addition to all the regular chores, she picked thousands of boxes of apples from their Silver Star property. In her later years she lived at Heron Grove in Vernon and Overlander Residential Care Facility in Kamloops where she passed away.

A private Graveside Service in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery will precede a Celebration Of Elnora’s Life which will be held at Bethel Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, August 1st, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor David Reim officiating.

A Reception will follow in the Bethel Tea Room.

As an expression of sympathy, those who wish to do so may send donations in memory of Elnora to St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1503 Pottery Road, Vernon, B.C. V1T 3W6.

I would like to extend thanks to all the wonderful care aides, nurses and doctors who provided my Mom with such awesome care. I also want to express my heartfelt thanks to Pastor David Reim (Vernon) and Pastor Harry Bicknell (Kamloops) for their special times spent with her. A special note of thanks goes out to Marilyn and Bill Bidulka, Mom’s neighbours in Vernon for many years. It would not have been possible to have any better caring friends than you. God bless you all. Alvin.
