was born on March 4th, 1914 in Poland and passed
away peacefully on June 10th, 2010 in Vernon,
B.C. at the age of 96 years. Elsa will be lovingly
remembered by her son; Henry (Elaine) Steinke,
her daughter; Erika (Arthur) Strutynski, her
grandchildren; Lisa (Len) Burton, Laura Steinke,
Marnie Strutynski and Jason (Tracey) Strutynski,
her great-grandchildren; Hayden and Ben Burton
and Samantha and Chase Strutynski as well as
numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Elsa was
preceded in death by her husband; Heinrich, fi ve brothers; Henry, August, Ed,
Waldemar and Otto, two sisters; Juliana and Olga, two children; Werner and
Walter and her parents; August and Karolina Neitsch.
Elsa loved gardening and took great pride in her beautiful yard. She was a hard
working woman who loved her family with all her heart. She had a strong faith in the
Lord and always enjoyed attending Sunday services at St. John’s Lutheran Church
until her health declined and she was no longer able to attend. Elsa also enjoyed
spending time in the kitchen cooking and baking for family and friends. She loved
crocheting in her spare time and has made many doilies and afghans over the years.
A Funeral Service will take place at Bethel Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, June
16th, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Murv Kentel offi ciating. A Reception will
be held in the Tea Room at Bethel Funeral Chapel following the Interment at
Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
As an expression of sympathy, those who wish to do so may send donations in
memory of Elsa to the St. John’s Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.
The family wishes to extend a heart felt thank you to the staff at the Polson
Sunshine Unit and to Dr. Charlton for the special care and support shown to
Elsa and her family.
