Else Jensen

Else Kristiane Jensen

It is with great sadness we announce that on August 15th, 2011 our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Else Jensen passed away in the Vernon Jubilee Hospital at the age of 95 years.

Else was born in Copenhagen, Denmark on February 19th, 1916 where she grew up and learned many different skills. She was extremely gifted with her hands and held several jobs as a leader in various industries. Else was a professional shoemaker, seamstress and a devoted mother to her three children, Jens, Anne and Lene. In 1943 her husband Jan joined the Danish Liberation Brigade in Sweden. In 1944 Else escaped the occupied Denmark across the ocean to Sweden in a small fishing boat with two small children, to be with her husband. When the war ended in 1945 they returned to Denmark, where their third child Lene was born. Else also leaves to cherish her memory eight grandchildren and twenty one great-grandchildren. In 1967 Jan & Else decided to join their daughter Anne and her husband John Kyrstein in Toronto, Ontario. In 1980 Anne & John moved to Mackenzie, B.C. Else & Jan, now retired, would again join Anne & John in Mackenzie where they enjoyed retirement until Jan died in 1994. Else remained with Anne & John as they left Mackenzie and moved to Prince George, B.C. Here they remained until 2006 when Else, Anne & John moved to Vernon so they could all enjoy their retirement years together. Else loved her last years spent among friends and would never say no to a game of cards, a trip to the Casino or a game of Bingo. She loved family, friends and life. Else could always find the good in people and she will be forever in the hearts of those she loved.

Cremation preceded the Funeral Service which will be held at Bethel Funeral Chapel on Saturday, September 17th, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Richard D. Schulz officiating. Placement of Else’s cremated remains will follow in the Bethel Rose Garden Of Remembrance. Immediately following the committal service family and friends are invited to a Reception in the

Bethel Tea Room. As an expression of sympathy, those who wish to

do so may send donations in memory of Else to the charity of

their choice.
