It is with unbelievable sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Elsie Dahlen (nee Strilchuk) at the age of

79 years.

She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter; Christine (Wade) Fraser, her granddaughter; Shelby Fraser, her son; Richard Dahlen, her very dear friend and brother-in-law; Gerry Brady, Roxanne Kelly who was like a second daughter to her, her beloved cat; Comet along with many extended family members and good friends.

Elsie was preceded in death by her husband; Ken, her parents; Sam and Mary, her brother; Peter and her sister; Virginia.

Mom loved life and always tried to do her BEST in everything that she did. She saw the good in everything and lived her life to the fullest. The light of Elsie’s life was her granddaughter Shelby. Grandma, Grandpa Gerry and Shelby spent every weekend having sleepovers, making Grandma platters and playing many games, especially scare in the dark, outside of course!! She was the best grandma ever. She enjoyed Sundays at the acreage having pancake breakfast and hiking with the dogs.

Elsie loved volunteering and she spent her free time with her “little ladies” who also became very good friends to her. She also volunteered at the Good Food Box every month packing fruits and vegetables. She was a strong willed lady who went back to school in her 40’s and earned her nursing degree and went on to be a very dedicated, compassionate nurse at the Vernon Jubilee Hospital. Throughout her life, Elsie made friends quickly and loved spending hours on the phone with friends and family, going for lunches and playing dice with her good friends. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her for her positive outlook, great listening and outgoing fun personality.

In respecting Elsie’s wishes, she was cremated and a private celebration of her life will take place at a later date.

As an expression of sympathy, those who wish to do so may send donations in memory of Elsie to the Good Food Box (250) 545-7617 or to the SPCA 4800 Haney Road, Vernon, B.C. V1H 1P6.

We love you so much mom, and will live our lives to the fullest as you have always encouraged us to do.
