ELSIE DE VEER (nee Toews) went to be with her Lord on Monday, October 4, 2004 at Vernon Jubilee Hospital. Aged 87 years. Elsie will be remembered by her husband of 59 years, Walter of Armstrong; one son Gilbert (Louise) of Vernon; one daughter Connie (Bill) Overland of Oshawa, Ontario; two grandsons both of Oshawa; one great grandson; two sisters Helen and Anna; one brother Terence; extended family and friends. Elsie was born and raised in Swalwell, Alberta, where she worked for the telephone company. She and Walter were married and they homesteaded at Crooked Creek, Alberta, until 1965 when they moved to Brazil, living there until the end of 1966. Returning to Canada they lived in Grand Prairie, Beaver Lodge and finally Armstrong, where they have lived since the fall of 1983. Elsie loved all animals, cats, dogs and the farm animals. She was known for taking care of any and all strays. Elsie also enjoyed singing, tending her garden and was active in the Enderby Faith Community Church. A Memorial Service will be held 4:00 p.m., Friday, October 8, 2004, at Faith Community Church, Enderby Drill Hall, Enderby. Mr. Cal Foster officiating. Cremation.
