Elsie Hunter (nee Medd)
November 12, 1909-March 28, 2009
Elsie passed away peacefully at Queen’s Park Care Centre in New Westminster. She was in her hundredth year. Elsie was born on the family farm near Cutknife, Saskatchewan. She moved with the family to a farm in the Larkin area in the early 30’s. In 1935, she married Ernest Hunter from Armstrong. They raised their four children in Vernon. Elsie began her career as a psychiatric nursing aide at the
Vernon Home for the Aged. In 1959, she transferred
to Woodlands School in New Westminster. She
worked there until her retirement in 1974.
Elsie was a loving and devoted mother,
grandmother of 8 and great-grandmother of 10.
She is survived by her four children- Lorne of
Horsefly, Hugh of Powell River, Althea Naundorf
of Vernon, and Marion Smith of New
Westminster. Elsie was predeceased
by her husband Ernie in 1980, her
brother George in 1965, and her brother
Frank in 1984.
Cremation has taken place. A private
