We regret to announce
the passing of Elsie Lauretta Montgomery
on November 12, 2006 at the age of 86 years. Lauretta was born in Regina Sask., in 1919 and during the 1920’s moved to Murrayville in the Fraser Valley with her family. Lauretta proudly worked at the
Boeing aircraft factory and was the quintessential
working woman throughout the 1940’s. Lauretta is survived by her twin sister Mary Elma Fox of Pasco WA and her four children; John (Arlene) Sawicki, Robert (Joan) Sawicki, Marlene Lefroy and Lynnette (Michael) Lynch, as well as seven grandchildren; Carol Spruce, Kevin Sawicki, David Sawicki, Melissa Loring, Ngaire Lynch, Tiffany Loring and Eamon Lynch and six great grandchildren. Lauretta was an avid gardener and had a great love and respect for nature; she took immense pride in preserving the produce she gleaned from her orchard and gardens. Lauretta was a true child of the depression and was able to turn her hand to making everything from scratch and was a generous mentor of these skills to her children. A celebration of Lauretta’s life will be held at 1:00 Monday, November 20, 2006 at the Coldstream Women’s Institute in Coldstream, B.C. Lauretta’s family would like to thank the staff of The Gateby in Vernon for their support and care during the past years.
