Emmy Steinke was born on December 28th, 1926 in Skorkowka, Poland and was called Home to be with her Lord on March 16th, 2018 at the age of 91 years.
Emmy will be lovingly remembered by her three children, Waldemar (Susan) Steinke of Vernon, B.C., Trudy (Martin) Madelung of Courtenay, B.C. and Gary (Heather) Steinke of Sherwood Park, Alberta; six grandchildren, Lisa (Aaron) Heidt and Sara (Ben) McLean of Vernon, B.C., Nicholas (Vanessa) Steinke of St. Albert, Alberta, Fraser (Sarah) Madelung of Victoria, B.C., Meghan (Michael) Day of Edmonton, Alberta and Kelsey (Chris) Becir of Courtenay, B.C.; ten great-grandchildren, Simon, Rosie, Linnaea, Leo, Theo, Natasha, Alexander, Thoressen, Roland and baby Charlotte; one brother, Reinhold Korok of Dawson Creek, B.C.; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Emmy was predeceased by her husband of sixty-one years, Alexander Leopold Steinke; her parents, Ludwig and Lydia Korok; one sister, Wanda Hess; and infant daughter, Rita. Emmy's greatest love was for her family, her friends, her church and her flowers.
Those wishing to pay their last respects to Emmy may do so at Bethel Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, March 21st, 2018 from 7:00 - 8:00 P.M. A Graveside Service will be held at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery on Thursday, March 22nd, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. followed by a Memorial Service at Bethel Funeral Chapel at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Craig Tufts of St. John's Lutheran Church officiating. A Reception will follow in the Bethel Tea Room.
Emmy's family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. Dave Arnold, as well as the staff at Carrington Retirement Home and The Hamlets in Vernon for their compassion and kindness.
