May 2, 1943 - February 5, 2025
Engbert "Bert" Brongers was born in Hengelo, Overijssel, Netherlands, to Jantinus and Gerharda Brongers. He was the eldest of three, with a younger brother, John, who predeceased him, and a younger sister, Diana. In 1955, his family immigrated to Canada, settling in Okanagan Falls, British Columbia. From an early age, Bert displayed an unstoppable work ethic, balancing school with labor in his father's landscaping business. His sharp mind and natural business instincts led him to build a successful career in sales, real estate, and development, where he became known for his fearless decision-making and ability to seize opportunities others overlooked.
Beyond his career, Bert was defined by his generosity and passion for life. He took immense joy in sharing his success, ensuring his loved ones were cared for while he was still alive. He traveled the world, embraced new experiences, and found happiness in the simple pleasures—boating on Okanagan Lake, tending to his peach orchard, and doting on his beloved cats, Buddy and Max. Bert is deeply missed by his children, Heidi, Shelley, and Nicholas, and their families, as well as the many friends whose lives he touched.
A celebration of life will be held at 2 PM on May 3rd, 2025, at Bert's Vernon residence, 8000 Bench Row Rd, for those that knew him well.
Elvis has left the building.
