In Loving Memory ~ After a long life Eric died at home on Friday, October 1, with all his children present.
Born in England, Eric served as a Captain in the British Army in India and Burma during WWII. In 1951 Eric moved to Toronto with his wife Bette and infant twin sons Richard and John.
The family, now including son Paul, moved west to Port Moody. Eric's career as a professional engineer later took him to Pakistan, where he met his second wife Colette and her two children Bridget and Michael. With his new family, he continued his career in Nigeria, finally retiring to Armstrong in 1988.
Eric loved Armstrong. He was an active community member, involved with Rotary, Kindale, and many other projects. Retired life was busy. His numerous hobbies included painting, music, and singing in the Schubert Centre choir. He loved dinners with family and friends, with lively conversation and regaling all with his stories. There was always lots of laughter.
Eric had a large, loving family and is deeply missed by twin brother Frank; children John (Robin), Richard, Paul (Jennifer), and Bridget (Graham); grandchildren David (Angie), Adam (Mia), Lillie (Kaylee), and Clayton (Kelly); and great-grandchildren Kaia, Kina, Louella, and Lochlan.
He was predeceased by Bette, Colette, and Michael.
Celebration of Life Please join us on Saturday, July 16 at 1 pm Armstrong Oddfellows Hall.
Eric passed away October 1, 2021 in the midst of the pandemic restrictions. His family and friends were not able, like so many others, to celebrate the life of this beloved man. His family invites all who wish to attend a celebration remembering his extraordinary life. We shall share a few stories just as he would wish.
In lieu of flowers, if you'd like to make memorial contributions in memory of Eric please send donations to Haugen Community Healthcare Society, 23A 3300 Smith Drive, Armstrong, BC V0E 1B1.
