September 14, 1924 - October 8, 2020
Born Brasov, Romania September 14, 1924 ~ Died Vernon, B.C. October 8, 2020.
Erika is survived by nephews Joerg and Klaus in Europe, stepson Christian, nieces Nina, Anna, and Jane, sister-in-law Frances along with their families. She was predeceased by her husband Ernest in 2016.
A brave and remarkable woman whose intelligence and curiosity about life remained until her passing. Her ability to speak and write many languages was a sense of pride and accomplishment for her.
An avid skier, she was a seasons pass holder at Silver Star until age 86. Erika was a devoted tennis fan, she enjoyed playing and watching sports throughout her life. She and Ernest loved the outdoors and travelled extensively in BC and Canada in their camper, sharing time with family and friends. In their later years they spent time enjoying the activities, delicious food, and family birthday celebrations at Sparkling Hill in Vernon.
Erika loved playing the piano and music was a cornerstone of her life.
A talented baker, her tortes were legendary and one piece was never enough. Having a nice little slivovitz to whet the appetite or digest a delicious meal was always on offer and we will fondly raise a glass to our dear Erika.
Our family would especially like to thank dear friend Hans- Peter and her neighbours and friends in Vernon for their kindness and support. We also thank the staff of Vernon Jubilee Hospital who treated her with the utmost respect and dignity, especially nurses Nicole and Shannon.
Her life was deeply affected by tragedy and hardship that was never forgotten, but overcome through sheer will and fortitude.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

"Everything can be taken from a person, but one thing:
The last of human freedoms - to choose one's attitude in any
given set of circumstances, to choose one's own way."
(Viktor Frankl)
