July 16, 1928 - May 20, 2021
Erna went peacefully to be with her Saviour on May 20th, 2021, while surrounded by her family. She stood fast in her faith and welcomed eternity in the face of increasing health issues.
Erna leaves behind her sons, Harald (Anita), Conrad (LaVonne) and Carl (Evelyn); her nine grandchildren, Natalie, Melissa, Naomi, Nickolas, Sean, Jeff, Vanessa, Kirsti and Jenna and their families, including nine great-grandchildren; three sisters, Else Hembruch, Hilda Hamann and Tabea (Edelbert) Janke; one brother, Sig Wolf; and numerous extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roland; three brothers, Bernhard, Erhard and Helmut Wolf; her parents, Fred and Olga Wolf; two brothers-in-law, Wilhelm Hembruch and Ewald Hamann; and one sister-in-law, Ann Wolf.
Erna was born on July 16th, 1928 in Lonschka, Kreis Siedlce, Poland, along with her twin sister, Else. In 1950, Erna immigrated to Canada with her parents and siblings and settled in Vernon, B.C.
In 1952 Erna met Roland Kober, whose persistence, good looks and charm got him that first date. Roland was the love of her life and they were married on October 2nd, 1954. As Erna and Roland's family grew, first with their children, then their spouses, followed by grandchildren and great-grandchildren, their love multiplied to include each and every one.
Erna's great joy in life was being a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. At each stage of life, the Kober home was filled with laughter, the large extended family and good food. Sunday dinners were a regular occurrence.
Erna was an amazing and resourceful cook and created memorable meals for the whole family throughout her life. She continued to cook lunch five days a week for her boys right into her 90s.
Erna was a born again Christian; her prayers surrounded the family and her faith will continue to impact and inspire future generations. She will be lovingly remembered and missed, but her deep legacy of love lives on in her siblings, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A private family Graveside Service took place in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery on Saturday, May 29th, 2021 with Pastors Gary Glanz and Art Lange officiating. A Celebration of Erna's Life will take place at a later date.
