Ernest Jacob Everett passed away peacefully at the age of 96, on Thursday, May 26th, 2005, after problems with heart and cancer. He will be missed by his family: sons Jack and Gary and daughter Sharon; sisters Dora, Hazel and Velma; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. He was predeceased by sisters Gladys and Ruth. Ernie was born in Burch Falls, Ontario in 1909 and moved to Vernon with his family in 1918. He lived in Vernon, married and raised three children in a house that he built. During his worklife he did farm work, garage work, was a carpenter, and a machinist-welder at Okanagan Equipment until a fire ended that job. His last employment was maintaining equipment at Inland Ice and Cold Storage until his retirement in 1976. Ernie was active in the Vernon Fish and Game Club, and Search and Rescue. He enjoyed the great outdoors; fishing, hunting, camping and photography as well as trying painting. To all who knew Ernie, he was always building or fixing something. He will be fondly remembered as a loving father, grandfather and a kind and generous man. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 4, at 11:00 am, in the chapel of Vernon Funeral Home.
