ERNEST passed away at the age of 86 in the Salmon Arm hospital on Feb. 20, 2004. Ernest, together with his parents and siblings came to Canada from Raklev, Denmark in 1928, settling in Bawlf, Alberta area as farmers. On July 21, 1945 Ernest married Marion Rose Roth. They continued to live on the family farm and there raised their three children. In 1959 Ernest and Marion built a service station along highway 13, west of Bawlf. Together with farming, they operated the service station and remained in Alberta until 1975. Semi-retirement brought Ernest and Marion to Sicamous, BC where Ernest remained active in carpentry and property maintenance. Ernest was a very hard working, dedicated man in everything he undertook to achieve. Armstrong, BC was home for 5 years before retiring in Enderby in 1995. Ernest is sorrowfully missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 58 years., Marion; three children, John (Toni) Nielson, Joanne (Kris) Koganow, Randy (Janice) Nielson; four grandchildren, Carmen Varty (John), Kristan, Erika, Evan; sisters, Karen Wiffen, Erna Burgess, Eva Olsen; nieces, nephews and many friends. Predeceased by his parents and sister, Edith Petersen. Memorial Service is to be held at St. Andrew’s United Church, Enderby, BC Thursday, Feb. 26, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. Cremation. Contributions in memory of Ernest are gratefully accepted to the Cancer Society or charity of one’s choice. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Len Gallo, Mountain View Funeral Home, Armstrong 546-8294.
