It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ernie Zubot who left us to greet our Lord, surrounded by family, at the age of 77.
Ernie was born in Prelate, Saskatchewan and later moved to Medicine Hat, then Calgary where he married his wife, before finally settling in Vernon with their four children. He started D&E Tire with his partner Dennis Crawford, which later transformed into Big O Tires, well known by the community for its honesty and family service for 31 years. Ernie was a family man who always spoke proudly of his children and taught them values that they will forever cherish. He will be forever remembered for his contagious laugh, lively energy, positive outlook and outbursts of song and dance. Ernie had a great love for sports, including baseball, curling, hockey and especially golf. He could always be seen with a smile on his face and a joke to tell, a trait many people in the community will remember.
Ernie will be lovingly remembered by his wife Marg, of 58 years; four children, Kerry (Andrea), Len (Lynne), Bonnie and Darryl (Sandy); eight grandchildren, Kriston, Matthew, Shayne, Cameron, Janessa, Chantel, Bryce and Dylan; as well as eight extended grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He leaves behind two brothers, Richard and Donald; and went in peace to join his brother, Allan; his mother, Anne and father, Leonard.
As per Ernie's wishes, he was cremated and there will be no service held.
For anyone who wishes to attend the celebration of life for Ernie Zubot. It will be held on Sunday, October 21st at the Anavet Club (Army Navy & Airforce Veterans in Canada) in Vernon from 2 - 5 pm.
Cremation arrangements were made with Bethel Funeral Chapel Ltd., 5605-27th Street, Vernon, B.C. V1T 8Z5.
