Esther Theresa Black
We regret to announce the death at Noric House on August 4, 2012, of Esther Teresa Black, at the age of 87 years. Esther was born in Sibbald, Alberta and was a resident of Camrose prior to moving to Vernon in 1969. She was a member of IODE – Ladies Lions and was active at Trinity United Church and the UCW for many years. She was also employed at Sears for many years.
Esther was predeceased by her husband Ernie in 2007 and will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by: daughters, Wendy (David) Koop of Calgary, Lorraine (Roy) Skalzub and Gail (Brad) Gelz of Vernon; 8 grandchildren; Lisa, Angela, Holly, Adam, Sarah, Christy, Justin, and Steven; 7 great grandchildren; sisters, Florence Gardner of Medicine Hat and Isobel (Bunny) Ehlert of Calgary; sisters-in-law Lois Black of Comox, Mildred Schielke of Provost AB, and Marie Schielke of Camrose, AB, as well as nieces, nephews, and extended family. The family would like to send a special thank you to Dr. D. Williams and the caring staff at Noric House.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Trinity United Church on Saturday, August 11 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Bob Thompson officiating. Friends wishing to do so may make donations in memory of Esther to either Camp Winfield, c/o Vernon Lions Club, Box 430, Vernon, BC V1T 6M3 or North Okanagan Hospice Society, 3506 – 27 Avenue, Vernon, BC V1T 1S4.
