Ethel Carr

Ethel Marie CARR passed away in her 90th year on Saturday, February 20, 2010. She was predeceased by her husband, (RCAF Fl. Lt.) John James (Jack) Carr in 1989. She was born in Calgary and completed school there. During World War II she worked in Communications for the Department of National Defence.

Ethel and Jack were married in Vancouver in 1943, and lived in Vernon from 1945 on. Ethel worked as the secretary at the Vernon Fire Hall in the 1970’s to the mid 80’s, and she was very active in the Knox Presbyterian Church as a member of the Women’s Guild and the Women’s Missionary Society. For the past 20 years she lived with her daughter Vivian in Vancouver and Cloverdale BC.

She is survived by her four children and their families: Peter and his wife Brenda, David and his wife Emily, Vivian and her husband Victor, and John and his wife Susan, and by her six grandchildren, Ian and Jonn Carr, Paul and Diana Newman, and Meghan and Ted Carr.

In respect of her wishes, a Memorial Service will not be held. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ethel’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society are appreciated.
