Long time Armstrong resident, Ethel “Effie” Latrace passed away peacefully at Pleasant Valley Manor on Saturday, December 1, 2007, in her centennial year.. Effie will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her nephew Doug (Alison) Stewart of Armstrong and their children Lori Stewart of White Rock; Selina (Jeremy) Fleming and son Nathan of Grand Prairie; Blaine (Kristy) Stewart and sons Sawyer & Kooper of Silver Creek as well as nieces and nephews in Alberta & Saskatchewan. Predeceased by husband Ernest Latrace in 1996. Ethel was born and raised in South East Saskatchewan on what is now the third generation Moss Homestead (reference Golden West #95 Rural Municipality). She moved to Armstrong with her family in the mid 1940s. Effie and Ernest had a produce farm on Pleasant Valley Cross Road and in her younger years she was a Home Support Worker. Active in the community, Effie was a member of the United Church Ladies Group and a life member of the Historical Society. A Memorial Service will be held 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 8, 2007 at Mountain View Chapel, Armstrong, Reverend Kelly Grittner officiating.
