April 28, 1919 - June 11, 2018
Ethel Mary Mitchell, age 99, passed away on Monday, June 11, 2018 in Vernon, B.C. She was born on April 28, 1919 in North Battleford, SK, to William and Hattie (Crawford) Golden. She was the youngest of 5 children. While growing up on her family's farm in Maidstone, SK, she developed a love for nature and horses at a young age.

Ethel married Donald Mitchell on September 16, 1950 and moved to Calgary, AB where they raised their two children. Ethel was a published author, gifted storyteller, journalist and poet. She taught writing for many years and wrote a book called Buffalo Bud, which was placed in libraries across Canada. Ethel and Don loved the outdoors and enjoyed skiing, golfing, hiking and camping. In 1981, they retired in Blind Bay Estates where they built their dream home and spent more time than ever enjoying nature and creating cherished memories with their

children and grandchildren at Shuswap Lake.

Left to honor Ethel and remember her love is her beloved husband of 67 years, Don; two children, Sherry, William (Marian); and five grandchildren; Lane, Jeda, Paris, Justin and Chelsea. Ethel had a smile that lit up a room. She will be remembered as an extraordinary woman with a determined spirit who always followed her passions and lived life to the fullest.

Memorial donations may be made in Ethel's name to the Canadian Wildlife Federation. There will be a celebration of her life at a later date.
