November 28, 1923 – May 2, 2017

Ethel Moncrieff Somersgill passed away peacefully in the Polson Extended Care Facility on Tuesday May 2, 2017

at the age of 93 years. Ethel was born to William & Ethel Smith in Vancouver, BC on November 28, 1923.

Ethel is survived by her loving children: Betty (Don) Julseth, and Bob (Noel) Somersgill; 6 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles “Chuck” in 2002 and grandson, Mike in 2006.

Ethel had a strong love for music of all kinds. She tried her hand at classical piano and she stuck with it. Her hobby quickly turned into a passion and before she knew it she was teaching her skill to others. Her musical inclination didn’t stop at piano, she dabbled with many instruments and quite enjoyed the accordion and the banjo. She expressed her creativity through other mediums as well, such as taking an interest in oil painting. Ethel was a social person and had a great love for animals throughout her life.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Polson Multi for the loving care they provided Ethel in the last five and a half years of her life. In lieu of flowers those friends wishing to make memorial contributions in memory of Ethel may do so to the charity of their choice.

A Memorial Service will be held at Pleasant Valley Funeral Home on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 10:00 AM in the Tea Room.
