It is with great sadness Pauline shares the news with family and friends that her dear husband Eugene has passed.

Eugene passed away peacefully and with dignity on St. Patrick's Day at his home in Vernon, BC with his devoted and loving wife Pauline always at his side, after a long struggling battle with cancer and heart disease.

Eugene will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Pauline of 51 years, his sister Sylvia (Laurie), brother Leonard (Kasie), sister-in-law Donna (Ronald), as well as extended family of sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and cousins.

He also will be missed by numerous nephews and nieces, especially Maurice and Kathie Bzdel and Teresa and Dan Seward always by his side. He referred to Teresa as his private nurse. A number of great nieces and great nephews especially Justin and Taylor Seward dropping in for visits and playing a few golf games with Justin over the years and Michelle Kozak who always kept in touch. And Bauer a great-great-nephew with whom he teased with while visiting.

He will also be missed by Uncle Mac whom he chatted frequently by long distance, and by friends nearby and from afar by email and phone.

Eugene was predeceased by his parents Michael and Pauline (nee Bzdel) Leschyshyn, sisters Alexandra and Florence, brothers Ronald and Morris. Eugene was born and raised in Wynyard, SK and received his education in Wynyard, Yorkton and Saskatoon. Eugene loved to down hill ski, play racquet ball, slow pitch ball, golf and to travel through searching for golf courses and ski hills.

Eugene retired from HSSG (Health System Support Group) in 1995 in Saskatoon, SK. Soon after he had open heart surgery replacing his mitral valve. Shortly thereafter Eugene and Pauline headed to BC to settle in the Okanagan Valley where he thoroughly enjoyed golfing and then vacationing in Hawaii in the winter months. Eugene was a man of honesty, integrity, very kind, caring and a very proud man and a great gentleman. Always interested in current events, sports and politics.

In respecting Eugene's wishes he was cremated and no service will be held. Interment will take place at a later date with family and friends in attendance.

Those wishing to do so may make a memorial contribution in Eugene's memory to the BC Cancer Agency or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
