Eva Anna Neufeld

(nee Friesen)

was born in Hague, Saskatchewan on January 16th, 1919. She was married to her high school sweetheart, Jacob Neufeld, for 70 years until he left for heaven in 2010, where he has no doubt been eagerly waiting for her to join him. Jac adored his dark-haired, long-legged beauty and as youths they spent many happy hours skating on frozen prairie ponds and singing in the church choir. Eva loved her Lord Jesus. Everything she did exemplified her servant’s heart. She lived to make others comfortable and happy, and like Dorcas of the Bible, sewed, knit and crocheted hundreds of clothes and blankets for family, friends, anyone in need, and just to do random acts of kindness. Family depended on Eva to be the glue that stuck them together; she always had news of distant relatives, addresses and phone numbers. Gatherings were at her place, where there was always plenty of good home cooking and the most unequivocally delicious

apple pie in the world. She had the knack for making people feel loved, secure and relaxed, and personified the essence of a real lady – beautiful, honorable, elegant, gracious, sweet and clothed with humility. All her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren can take comfort in the knowledge that she prayed daily; interceding for every one of them. Eva lived with dignity all her life. During her last days, she frequently heard angel choirs practicing, and had many interesting dreams, visions and visits to heaven. On August 31st, 2012, while listening to worship at God’s throne, she left us to be with Him. Although we miss her excruciatingly, we are thrilled for her and look forward to seeing her again very soon.

Many loving memories are left by Eva, to be cherished by her children, Eugene (Fiona) Neufeld, Violet (Alan) Shevkenek, Evelyn (John) Doerksen and Karen (Richard) Waller; beloved niece, Melody (Vince) England; twelve grandchildren, Julia, Isaac, Luke, Derek, Kristin, Meeka, Marci, Byron, Clinton, Lance, Joy and Jeordyn; twenty great-grandchildren, Luke, Anna (whom Eva is cuddling in heaven), Will, Mae, Ruby, Aven, Cody, Ethan, Isaac, Brinn, Elke, Eero, Braden, Amber, Sarah, Peter, Cian, Sarah, Jillian and Laura; her sister, Marie Funk; and her brothers, Menno, Omar, Jack (Louise), Buno and Ed (Amy) Friesen; as well as many, many in-laws, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and friends. Brother Eric had previously left this earth.

A private Graveside Service at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery will precede a Celebration Of Eva’s Life which will be held at Bethel Funeral Chapel on Friday, September 7th, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Herb McCormack officiating. A Reception will follow in the Bethel Tea Room.

If friends so desire, they may send contributions in memory of Eva to her favorite ministries: Wings of Healing Society, Suite 401-1676 West 11th Avenue, Vancouver, B.C. V6J 2B9 or Billy Graham Evangelistic Association of Canada, 20 Hopewell Way N.E., Calgary, Alberta T3J 5H5.

The family would like to say an enormous thank you to all the wonderful people on home support “team 2” who helped us keep Eva comfortable through her transition from earth to heaven.
