It is with great sadness that the family of Evelyn Griffiths (nee Lainchbury) announces her death at Vernon Jubilee Hospital on Saturday, January 27th, 2007 at the age of 81 years. She was a gentle, loving soul who always put the needs of others before her own, a devoted wife, a loving mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by her children; Doreen, Ken (Darcy), Robert and Cecilia (David), her grandchildren: Kaitlin, Scott and Jordon, Jaimie, Shawn, Marlin and Brook, her sisters; Darlene, Rose, Della and Grace, her nieces, nephews, relatives and friends, She was predeceased by her husband and best friend, Leslie in 2005, infant daughter, Darlene, grandson, Aaron, her parents, three brothers and one sister. Evelyn was born in Manville, Alberta on April 3rd, 1925 and as a young woman followed her family to Grandview Flats and shortly thereafter moved to Vernon where she met and married the love of her life. Here she remained for over sixty years where she worked and gave tirelessly to her passion of caring for and raising not only her own children but those in need of a loving foster home or those of family or friends who needed to be tucked under her wing. What a brood she tended! She also loved her garden and the harvest it provided, fishing, camping (in the camper), travel, visiting family and friends and most recently playing Bingo with her Canterbury friends. Cremation preceded a Celebration Of Evelyn’s Life which will be held at the Schubert Centre, 3505-30th Avenue, on Saturday, February 3rd, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. with Mr. Brian Jackson officiating. As an expression of sympathy, those who wish to do so may send donations in memory of Evelyn to NONA Child Development Centre, 2802-34th Street, Vernon, B.C. V1T 5X1.
CIRCLE OF LIFE
From the day we arrive on the planet
and blinking step into the sun,
there’s more to see than can ever be seen,
more to do than can ever be done.
There’s far too much to take in here,
more to find than can ever be found,
but the sun rolling high
through the sapphire sky
keeps great and small on the endless round.
It’s the circle of life
and it moves us all,
through despair and hope,
through faith and love,
till we find our place
on the path unwinding
in the circle,
the circle of life.
