Evelyn Joy (Bricker) Williams

Joy passed away in Vernon, January 30th, 2010, at the age of 95. Predeceased by her father (Durward Overault Bricker), mother (Elizabeth Rose Tyler), brothers (Frank, Norm, Doug, Bert) sister (Rose) and her husband Ben. Joy will be lovingly remembered for an eternity by her daughters Joan Noble (Ron) in Delta, Lynne Taylor (Richard) in Vernon, and Sharron Williams in Vancouver.

Born in Calgary, June 1st, 1914, Joy grew up in Fernie and then graduated from St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing in Victoria in 1935. She then nursed at Port Alberni, Children’s and Pearson hospitals in Vancouver before moving to Princeton where she raised her family. In 1958 Joy an Ben moved to Delta continuing a full and rich life. In 2000, Vernon Restholm became her new home where she made many new friends. She loved deeply and was such a beautiful person. Lovingly known as “Grandy” she is survived by her grandchildren, Pam Samaddar (Sam), Lori Ukkonen (Ronnie), Carolyn Stier (Alan), David Noble (Catharina), Dean Desrosiers (Wendy), Traci Desrosiers, 16 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cherished friends.

Joy requested a private celebration to be held in the spring. The family wish to express their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Mandreck, Vernon Restholm staff, Murray (Interior Health) and Vernon Hospice for their care and support.

God gives us strength to accept it and courage to bear the blow but what it means to lose you… Mom… no one will ever know. We love you.
