Father Emil
Sasges
Father Emil Sasges passed
from this life to eternity
on August 5, 2014.
He was born in Lake
Lenore, Saskatchewan
on February 6, 1931 and
moved with all his family
members to Vernon BC in 1937. He attended
school in Vernon before enrolling in the Seminary
of Christ the King. He was ordained a priest
for the Diocese of Kamloops in April 6, 1957
and served in several different parishes within
the diocese, including Sacred Heart Cathedral,
the parishes of Valemount and Blue River, the
parishes and missions of Ashcroft, Cache Creek,
Holy Family Parish, Kamloops, as well as Chase
and Logan Lake, St. Jude’s parish and missions in
100 Mile House. He retired from active ministry
in 2012. For the past two years he called the
Immaculate Heart of Mary Shrine Centre, Cache
Creek, his home.
He is survived by his sisters Helen (Ray)
Donovan and Agnes (Larry) Streeter, of Vernon,
and numerous nieces and nephews. He was
predeceased by his parents as well as his brothers
Reinhart, Aloysies (Al), Jerome, and Norbert,
their wives, as well as his nephews Darryl in 2013
and Brennan in 2012.
Prayers for Fr. Emil will be recited in Sacred
Heart Cathedral, 3rd Avenue and Nicola Street,
Kamloops on Tuesday, August 12 at 6:30 p.m. The
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday,
August 13th at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow
in the priest’s plot in Hillside Cemetery.
A reception will follow in St. Anne’s Academy
Gym, Kamloops.
