With great dignity and secure in the knowledge that she was loved, Fay Marlene Almaas passed away at Vernon Hospice House on Friday September 18th, 2009.
Fay was born on November 19th, 1947 at the family home in Enderby. She was the youngest of seven children born to Jorgen and Josie Almaas. After an early graduation, at the age of 16, from the Enderby High School, she began her thirty year career with the Toronto Dominion bank in Vancouver. Fay enjoyed life and laughter with family and friends and was always the life of the party. Fay was predeceased by her parents Jorgen and Josie, by her oldest sister Ruby and her oldest brother Ole. Left to celebrate her life are her sister Loraine (Les) Miller of Hawaii, her brother in law Mike Baran of Rutland, and her big brothers Gerald (Rosalie) of Enderby, Vernon (Marilyn) of Prince George and Gordon (Sandy) of Kelowna. There are numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and good friends who have enjoyed her wit and zest for life over the years. Fay’s unfailing sense of humour was an inspiration to all who knew her. We will miss her spunk and her one liners.
The family is very grateful to the wonderful staff at Vernon Hospice House for the loving and compassionate care given to Fay during her stay with them. A gathering of family and friends will be held the summer of 2010- in the sunshine that Fay so loved.
