Phillips – Fern Elaine born July 9,1927 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2004 at Vernon Jubilee Hospital. Pre-deceased by: her parents Donald & Florence Sayers; sisters Valerie and Gin; grandchildren Ronnie and Laura and wonderful husband Al ; she is survived by: son Chuck; daughter Glynnis; sister Diane; five step-children, Bruce, Lyle, Brian, Ann, & Les; fourteen grand-children and sixteen great-grand children.

Throughout her life Fern was involved with: Cub Scouts, helping to establish packs in Enderby and then Whitehorse; the Order of the Eastern Star in Kelowna and the Royal Canadian Legion in Enderby. She had an abounding love of, and affinity with nature, particularly plants, cats and birds and was a gifted artist working mostly with leather and oil paints. Fern also loved to travel, and play hymns on her organ. Her last 15 years were spent in peaceful retirement in the community of Ashton Creek. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all those whose lives she touched. A memorial service will be held at Mountain View Funeral Home in Armstrong, B.C. on Sat. May 29, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Ken Jones officiating. Cremation. In lieu of flowers a donation in Fern’s name made to the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation or charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
