Ferne Reiswig (Fell)

1926 – 2014

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ferne on January 30, 2014 in Vernon, BC. Ferne was born in Sundance Alberta, the fifth child of Henry and Bertha Fell.

She married Russel Reiswig in 1943 in Rutland, BC. They had been married 57years at the time of Russel’s death in 2000.

Ferne and Russel were ranchers; they lived and worked on many large ranches. The last 40 years of Ferne’s ranching life was spent on her beloved Paxton Valley Ranch in Falkland. They ran a cow/calf operation and a small sawmill. She lived off the land and was one of the last pioneer woman of our time.

Just about everyone who knew Ferne called her “Auntie Ferne”. She was a Christian woman, loving and good in all her ways. She was very loyal to the Seventh Day Adventist Church and enjoyed her church friends. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Special thank you to Anne Nelson who took such good care of her these last few years.

Ferne was predeceased by her sisters: Muriel, Helen, Nona, and her brother Bud. She will be remembered by her many nieces and nephews and good friends; including her best friend Jennifer Veld.

There will be a Celebration of Life in Falkland this spring, the date to be announced at a later time. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to www.MyAlternatives.ca
