Florence "Ruth" Drennan

On March 1, 2019 Ruth died in the Vernon Jubilee Hospital. She was born on January 1, 1923 and lived most of her early and adult years in the Ottawa Valley in Ontario and Quebec. She and her husband Johnny lived on the family farm near Lachute, Quebec. They made several moves in retirement before Johnny died in March, 1976 in Salmon Arm, BC.

Ruth then lived in Cushing, Quebec on the Ottawa River for several years before moving to Vankleek Hill, Ontario the town of her birth. She then relocated to Hondo, Alberta for a number of years before moving to Armstrong in 1994. Ruth enjoyed her association with Zion United Church, the Seniors Center and especially the card parties on Saturday evenings. She has lived in Creekside Landing assisted living in Vernon from 2012 until her recent death.

Ruth is survived by her son John and his wife Barbara, their three children and seven great-grandchildren all living in Alberta. Her other son Rod and his wife Ruth live in Vernon. She was predeceased by her eldest son Willy in a childhood drowning accident on their farm.

Ruth's two sons wish to thank the staff and other residents at Creekside Landing in Vernon for their kind and careful attention to their mother. They also wish to thank Dr. Alastair Annan of Enderby and Dr. Michael Murphy in Vernon for the respectful medical care provided to their mother.

A Celebration of Life event for Ruth will be held on son John's farm in Alberta in early summer of this year.
