Floyd was born on September 18th, 1926 in Wood Mountain, Saskatchewan and passed away on April 19th, 2019 in Lumby, B.C. at the age of 92 years.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife; Sylvia, to whom he was married for 69 years, his children; Lawrence (Gloria) Fiset, Gerald (Mila) Fiset and Charmagne (Bill) Klassen, his grandchildren; Jamie (Krista) Fiset, Michael Fiset, Kim Klassen and Troy Klassen, his great-grandchildren; Spencer, Gabriel, Adam, Drew, Lily and Liam, his sisters; Leona Cadden and May Muchowski along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Floyd was preceded in death by his sister; Laura, his brothers; George and Art and by his parents; Ernest & Dorothy.
Floyd started Big Valley Logging in Lumby, B.C. with his business partner Reay O'Rourke in 1964. After retiring from the logging industry, he took on a new job driving school buses in Lumby which he did for five years. Floyd had a passion for flying airplanes and was a member of the Vernon Flying Club from 1964 to 1984. He loved to take his friends and family flying over the years and many people will have fond memories of those special times.
Cremation preceded a Celebration of Floyd's Life which will be held at the White Valley Community Centre on Sunday, June 2nd, 2019 at 11 am.
As an expression of sympathy, those who wish to do so may send donations in memory of Floyd to the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 167, Lumby, B.C. or to the charity of your choice.
Cremation arrangements have been made with Bethel Funeral Chapel Ltd., 5605 27th Street, Vernon, B.C. V1T 8Z5.
