1924 - 2017
With heartfelt sadness, we announce mom's passing on August 7th, 2017 in the Vernon Jubilee Hospital after having a series of strokes.
Born in Brooksby, SK into a family of 12 children is survived by two sisters. Married in 1940, predeceased by husband George and 3 children, survived by 4 daughters and their spouses, 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren plus numerous relatives and cherished friends.
Our family lived on a farm outside of Melfort, SK until 1956 then moved to Prince Albert where dad worked in construction.
In 1958 we moved to Alberta, finally settling in the small town of Condor where mom and dad operated a general store. In 1969 they closed it and moved to Cherryville where they made a living off a small hobby farm until dad's passing in 1977.
After that, mom became well known for her baking at the farmers markets until she semi-retired in 2002 and continued to sell her homemade baking, perogies and crafts from home.
In 2013 mom's health forced her to move, her final home was Heron Grove where she continued to bake her own bread and make perogies until being hospitalized in July.
Mom was hardworking, creative and resourceful. She faced many challenges, was kind, generous, devoted to family, an excellent cook and hostess, loved sewing, planting large gardens and lots of flowers, was dedicated to studying the bible and remained strong in her faith to the very end.
Cremation and interment with a private family gathering will take place at Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Service of Remembrance will be on Saturday, Sept 2 at 1:00pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Lumby, BC.
