September 29, 1932 - December 14, 2021
It is with great sadness that the family of Frances Mooney announce her passing on December 14, 2021 at the age of 89.
Born on September 29, 1932 in Star City, Saskatchewan to parents William and Violet Godson, Fran and her husband moved to Alberta in 1951 where they worked and raised their family of 5. They retired and moved to Vernon, BC in the Okanagan which was their favourite family vacation destination. They had a beautiful home on Longacre Drive for many years where Fran and her girls would gather to make jams, jellies, salsas, and pickles. They had a lovely lake lot on the North Okanagan at Newport Beach where family and friends often gathered. She was an avid gardener, did crochet, knitting, crafts and sewing for her children and grandchildren. She was also a very creative and extraordinary cook and baker. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Fran was predeceased by her husband Art (62 years), her Mom and Dad, brother Ernest and sister-in-law Eileen, sister Terry and brother-in- law Tom. She is survived by her children Donna (Darryl), Rick, Sharon, Kevin and Lorraine (Steve), grandchildren Nikki (Cindy), Sean, Tyler, Brianne, Drake, Wyatt, Mayson, great- granddaughter Monday, daughter-in-law Cindy, brother-in-law Del (Linda), sister-in-law Lynda and nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to our Auntie Lynda who graciously volunteered to run errands and keep Mom company after she first moved to The Hamlets in Vernon during the pandemic, when the residents were only allowed 1 visitor. All family lived out of town and it was a very difficult time for all, and we really appreciate her very much.
Also thank you the staff of The Hamlets who were so attentive and worked so hard to make Mom's transition from her home as smooth as possible.
There will not be a memorial for Fran, but if you wish, donations can be made to the North Okanagan Hospice Society.
