The family is saddened to announce the peaceful passing of Frances Jacqueline Robbins, a long-time Falkland resident, at the Gateby Care Center in Vernon on Oct 15/2011.
Mom was born and raised in the Swift Current area. After marrying Keith in 1950, they moved to the Falkland area where she lived for nearly 60 years.
Mom was known throughout the area for her musical ability, her never ending willingness to help out wherever needed, and her love of feeding any and all who arrived at the farm, particularly for Sunday dinner. If you left hungry from the farm, it was no one’s fault but your own. Donut Saturday’s are a fond memory of all her children and neighboring children.
Mom is predeceased by her husband Keith, infant daughter Linda, parents John and Mable Ferguson (nee Thompson), as well as her sisters: Kate Redpath, Gertrude Crerar, Margaret Ferguson, and Miriam Ann Kirk. Also by her nephew Ken Redpath, as well as her fondly remembered mother in law, “Grandma” Ivadell Robbins.
She is survived by her children Joan Scott, Jean Allen (Dave), Donald Robbins, Joyce Stecyk (Tom), Murray Robbins and Bruce Robbins (Barbara). And also by the joy of her life, her nine grandchildren: Donald, James, Lisa, Brian, Janna, Patrick, Danielle, Brianna and Scott. She also leaves behind her brother David Ferguson (Joan) and her sister-in-law and life-long friend June Carleton (Ab) as well as her many nieces and nephews.
She will sadly missed by all who knew her. Many thanks to the residents and staff of Abbeyfield and Gateby who took such wonderful care of Mom in her last years.
A celebration of her life will be held at the Falkland Seniors Center on Friday, October 21, 2011 at 1-3pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Falkland Senior Center.
Heaven has a new angel, making joyful music.
